From Passion to Championship Glory
Tay Lions Cricket Club was founded in 2023 by seven passionate cricket enthusiasts: Jeewantha, Chamara, Sahan, Damith, Tharindu, Dinuka, and Imthaas. United by their love for cricket and a vision to build a community-focused club in Perth, Scotland, these founding members laid the foundation for what would become one of the region’s most successful cricket clubs.
Our Journey
2023: The Beginning
With determination and community spirit, seven friends established Tay Lions Cricket Club, choosing the name to represent strength, unity, and pride.
2024: A Championship Debut
In our first competitive season, we entered the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket League Division 2 and the Sunday R&D League. Against all odds, we claimed the Sunday R&D League Championship title, announcing our arrival on the Scottish cricket scene.
2025: Dominance and Promotion
Building on our inaugural success, Tay Lions dominated the Strathmore and Perthshire Division 2, finishing as the No. 1 team and securing the league championship. This outstanding performance earned us promotion to Division 1, where we will compete from the 2026 season onwards.
